Using Principles of Equity and Anti-Racism to Create an Inclusive Manager Foundations Program

THE ASK

A global marketing, advertising and design agency came to The Cee Suite to enhance their existing manager foundations training to ensure it reflected their values of inclusion and equity, and supported people leaders in developing skills and behaviors that centered around safety, anti-racism and authentic allyship.

OUR PROCESS

The Cee Suite interviewed members of the Talent Team, DEI committee and senior leadership to understand the organization’s desired outcomes and existing understanding and commitments to principles of equity and anti-racism. We then assessed their manager training content alongside other work the agency had started around anti-racism. We used these insights to recommend a modular manager learning series that better aligned with the company’s inclusion and equity goals, encouraged deeper learning around difficult topics and allowed time for processing and practice between new concepts. Managers were placed into cohorts to create a sense of community and a shared learning journey.

WHAT WE DELIVERED

  • Transformed day-long manager foundations training, incorporating inclusive and equitable behaviors

  • Learning journey spanning 4 months of ongoing curriculum. Core concepts explored included psychological safety, identities in the workplace, anti-racism, allyship and equitable hybrid work.

  • Additional workshops were added for Executives and individual contributors to support organization-wide shared understanding and implementation of anti-racism and allyship behaviors.

THE IMPACT

The Inclusive Manager program received a 92% effectiveness rating from participants.
